Synthesizer Oscillator Comparison

Oscillator | Filter | EG | LFO | Modulation Matrix

Mod column types are:

  • A: Amplitude modulation (AM)
  • F: Frequency (a.k.a. Cross) modulation (FM)
  • N: Noise modulation
  • P: Phase modulation (PM)
  • R: Ring modulation
  • W: (Pulse) Width modulation (PWM)

Notes:

  • * Chord section has additional waveforms.
  • ** Additional ringmod waveforms.
  • These are simplified tables, see the model links for more complete information.
  • Multiple sine waves usually indicates an additive source.
  • A number in the sub field indicates the total number of active octaves.
  • An "M" indicates waveforms which can be mixed (e.g. an oscillator produces saw + pulse).
  • "W" and "P" refers to white or pink noise, respectively.
  • FM refers to oscillator based carriers/modulators (vs. frequency modulation by LFO, EG, etc).
  • Samplers and sample based synthesizers (romplers) are not shown if they do not use single cycle waveforms.
